Density
Living in Paradise Valley
Paradise Valley incorporated in 1961 specifically to control its own zoning, and it shows: lot sizes are large, building heights are limited, and there's no strip retail cutting through residential streets. The result is one of the lowest-density, highest-value towns in the state, wedged between Camelback Mountain, Mummy Mountain, and Piestewa Peak.
The town has no commercial center of its own by design. Residents lean on next-door Scottsdale and Phoenix for shopping and dining, and on the town's nine resorts, including Sanctuary, Camelback Inn, and Mountain Shadows, for everything else.

Nine full-service resorts call Paradise Valley home, several with their own spas, golf, and destination restaurants open to the public.
